Requirements:
-40 CEUs every two years.
-A CEU is defined as 50 minutes of quality contact time in training or other qualifying activity which meets the performance objectives.
-20 CEUs must come from State Board approved sources.
-A minimum of 5 CEUs can be obtained from within a single criteria category.
Fee:
-ASA will charge $40 per year for certification renewal.
-The Texas fee is set at $45 per year.
-Statements will be sent November 1 of every year.
Acceptable CEUs:
The Texas State Board has complete authority for acceptance of CEUs for Texas-certified individuals. CEUs gained in one classification may not be duplicated within another classification. The board currently has approved the following for CEUs.
Higher Education
This includes courses taken within the four criteria categories and biology, chemistry and biochemistry from degree granting institutions only. Completion of degree is not required. Correspondence courses are allowed. Other course work may be approved at the discretion of the state board, upon request.
Seminars
Education programs offered independently and at conventions.
State Agency Approved CEUs
Texas automatically approves five CEUs for licensed Texas commercial applicators. The individual is responsible for sending a copy of their TDA applicator’s license to the national CCA office upon annual renewal. TDA will not submit it for you. The national CCA office will then automatically give five CEUs in IPM for the year. After you receive your five CEUs, you are allowed to earn up to 15 more CEUs per cycle in IPM through board-approved programs or self-study.

Prepared speeches relating to the profession.
Field Tours
Crop inspection tours designed to provide education about new or innovative inputs.
Self Directed Study
Written reports, videos, CD-ROM, internet programs or other forms of distance learning. An open-book exam must accompany the education program. All programs must be pre-approved by the State Board.
Each CEU is $15.00.
All CCAs must participate in continuing education to maintain certification. One CEU is equal to 50 minutes of training that is relevant to the performance objectives. Partial credit is allowed in 15-minute increments, rounded off the the nearest five minutes. Individuals will receive a quarterly statement of CEU status.

For all CEUs, it would be prudent to retain any pertinent information relating to the activity for two years. The Texas State Board will spot-audit the CEUs submitted annually. The following are the procedures for receiving CEU credit.
State Board Approved
The sponsor of the meeting is responsible for submitting the attendee names to the State CCA office for you to obtain credit. They will request you to sign-in on a registration sheet or card during the meeting. You must put your certification number or your social security number on the form to ensure proper application of credit.
State Agency Approved

Self-Directed
Refer to the list of items approved for CEUs to determine what is acceptable. Credit must be reported on the CEU fax sheet. The competency areas are listed and more detailed instructions are on the back of the form. Fax the form to the number noted on the form. The individual is responsible for submitting the form for proper credit.
Self-Directed Study
Self-Directed Study is defined as correspondence courses relating to the four performance objective areas. All programs must be pre-approved by the State Board. In general, the supporting materials must be at least 3500 words, followed by 10 multiple-choice questions. The questions must be answered correctly to receive credit. A maximum of 10 CEUs per CEU cycle (2 years) are allowed in this manner.
The following courses and appropriate CEU credits have been approved by the Texas Certified Crop Advisers.
The following courses are set up to provide Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for Private Applicators, Noncommercial and Commercial Applicators online. The Texas Department of Agriculture requires the following for each type of applicator.
Private Applicators: These applicators must have a total of 15 CEUs within the 5 year cycle. You can only take a maximum of 10 CEU online courses and/or correspondence courses. You must obtain 5 CEUs from a live class in order to meet the TDA requirements to recertify. You need 2 Laws and Regulations CEUs and 2 IPM CEUs within the 5 year cycle. You may obtain more in each category, but you must have at least the minimum. At the end of each CEU course you will need to complete the questionnaire and send it to Pestnetwork.com in order to receive your credit.
Noncommercial and Commercial Applicators: These applicators must obtain 5 CEUs each year. Of the 5 CEUs required, at least one CEU must be from each of two (2) of the following three categories; Laws and Regulations, IPM or Drift. The remaining 3 CEUs may come from the above categories or from the general category. You must rotate online CEUs and/or correspondence courses with live instruction every other year. Online CEUs and/or correspondence courses one year, live classes the next year and so on each year. At the end of each CEU course you will need to complete the questionnaire and send it to PestNetwork.com in order to receive your credit.
Each CEU is $15.00.

Generals
All commercial and noncommercial licensed technicians shall complete eight (8) hours of verifiable training for the preceding twelve (12) months of the renewal date. The verifiable training shall be reported on a board prescribed verifiable training record form, and must be verified upon each annual renewal of the technician’s license.
The eight (8) hours should follow the subject areas listed below; however, please make note that there is no specific amount for each subject required.
-Two (2) hours of the eight (8) hours of training may be on the job training or hands on training.
-Internet training, correspondence training, videotape training or live verifiable technician training may be used if the certified applicator certifies that the training is the appropriate training.
-Hour for hour credit will be given if a Board approved Continuing Education Unit course is completed.
-No courses may be repeated for credit per year.
-All verifiable training records forms will be made available to the Board upon request. These verifiable training records forms shall be kept on a format prescribed by the Board in the business file for at least two (2) years after termination of employment.
-The verifiable training records forms will be made available to the technician upon written request.
Each Course is $15.00.
You may select 8 or fewer of the following courses for verifiable training:
Prior to registering to take the exam for a technician license, the applicant must first be registered as an apprentice and complete all apprentice training requirements.
As an apprentice, an individual shall receive the following verifiable training.
Twenty (20) hours of classroom training in the general standards, with at least two hours of classroom training in each of the following subjects:
Eight (8) hours of classroom training in each category seeking licensure.
Forty (40) hours of on the job training, in each category seeking licensure.
