Recertification
The state of Georgia provides for two types of pesticide applicator licenses:
- Private Applicators License
- Commercial Applicators License
PRIVATE APPLICATORS LICENSE
A valid private applicators license must be held by any person in order for them to purchase, use or supervise the use of restricted use pesticides while engaged in the production of an agricultural commodity, either on their own property or, on the property of their employer.
A private applicator’s license is to be valid for five (5) years.
An applicator must be re-certified to renew a private applicator’s license. There are two ways that an applicator may be re-certified.
- Participate in the private applicators training program again
- Obtain three (3) re-certification hours
All re-certification hours must be received in the Georgia Department of Agriculture, Pesticide Division office at least 90 days prior to the expiration date of a person’s license.
COMMERCIAL APPLICATORS LICENSE
A valid commercial applicator’s license, in the appropriate licensing category, must be held by any person in order to;
- Purchase, use or supervise the use of restricted use pesticides on their own property or the property of their employer.
- Provide applications, of any type of pesticides, whether general or restricted use, to the property of another person, and collect a fee for these services.
A Commercial Applicator’s License is to be valid for five (5) years.
An applicator must be re-certified to renew a commercial applicator’s license. To be re-certified an commercial applicator may;
- Take and pass the commercial applicator’s exam
- Accumulate the required re-certification credit hours, for each of the specific categories in which they are licensed, during their five-year licensing period.
All re-certification hours must be received in the Georgia Department of Agricultural, Pesticide Division office at least 90 days prior to the expiration date of a license.

For those applicators also certified in Demonstration and Research, and/or Aerial Methods, the hours of training required for the primary categories (i-x) above, may consist of any combination of hours divided between training in the primary categories and training in Demonstration and Research and/or Aerial Methods. |
Continuing Education
Each CEU is $15.00.
